Looks like the future of footwear is finally making its way to the present. Say hello to the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0, the 1st real sneakers w/ Back-To-The-Future Power Laces. While the Nike MAG from Back To The Future Part II were out 1st, they were more so a type of retro sneaker.
Earlier today at the Innovation Summit, Nike unveils their autolacing system, codenamed E.A.R.L. (Electro Adaptive Reactive Laces). They’re designed by Tinker Hatfield w/ Mark Parker & Tiffany Beers giving the HyperAdapt a damn-near symbiotic connection between foot & shoe. Wearers can adjust the straps manually but Nike has plans for a more seamless function down the road. One day be able to sense whether or not if the shoes need to be tighter or looser. So dope.
The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 will arrive exclusively to Nike+ members during this upcoming holiday season. No word yet on pricing but don’t expect it to be cheap.
