toshiba chromebook 2Coming somewhat after the actual keynote is some awesome news pertaining to Chrome OS.  The Google Play Store is coming to Chromebooks and opening up tons of new ways to breathe new life into your Chromebook.

Chromebooks are about to get a lot more useful.

This will add the ability to download & run Android apps on Chrome OS.  So you’ll be able to play games like Minecraft, video calls using Skype, create/edit documents using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, tweak photos on Photoshop, and much more.  Apps will open up like floating windows that can be stacked and moved around on your screen.  BTW, these apps won’t be emulated either but run natively.

Google Play will arrive on the developer channel sometime next month and will be available to all later this year.  Also, to see the full list of Chromebooks that will support this new feature, look no further than here.
