Today, Huawei announced the arrival of their 2-in-1 MateBook here in the US. It was unveiled earlier this year at MWC and you will soon be able to get your hands on one. We were at the launch event today in NYC and we got our chance to play w/ it.
For the uninitiated, the MateBook will offer a super-thin tablet that measures at 6.9mm thick w/ a metal unibody. It will have a 12.9inch IPS LCD display w/ a 2160 x 1440 resolution, powered by a 6th-gen dual-core Intel Core M CPU, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB SDD, running Windows 10 Signature Edition, a fingerprint sensor on the volume rocker that supports Windows Hello, a 5MP front-facing camera w/ a fixed focus, dual mic, dual speakers, USB-C, 3.5mm audio jack, and a 4430 mAh battery.
The MateBook keyboard case will have a multitouch touchpad, spill resistant, metal-oxide frame & a backlit keyboard. The case does fold into a folio case for carrying your MateBook. Huawei has a dock to offer a VGA, Ethernet, HDMI, & 2 USB 3.0 ports. The MatePen offers up 2048 points of sensitivity, 100-hour battery life w/ a 1-hour charge and a laser-pointer built-in.
The Huawei MateBook is set to arrive on July 11th w/ pre-orders kicking off today. Pricing starts at $699 and goes all the way up to $1199 w/ 6 different configurations to choose from. While the keyboard cover will cost you $129, $59 for the MatePen & $89 for the MateDock.
