We told you it was coming and the official announcement is here. Say hello to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active for AT&T. The 2016 rugged version of the Galaxy S7 might just be the most powerful just yet. You still have the IP68 dust+water-resistance at work, a 5.1inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage w/ microSD card slot, and a f/1.7 12MP camera on the back.
The Galaxy S7 but in a tougher body & longer battery than the S7 Edge.
The S7 Active design won't win it any awards but it's made to take a beating. It has a metal frame & textured anti-slip rear as it looks way better in person than in the photos. The new shell brings forth a new body that is military spec to handle shock, vibrations, temperature, low-pressure/high altitude along w/ a shatter-resistant screen. Definitely, tougher than the standard S7.
Also, new is a new Active Key to get quick access to your favorite apps, the Activity Zone which offers access to Weather, Barometer, S Health, Compass, Flashlight, and Stopwatch as well as Emergency Zone for a fast call to 911 or an SOS message. The Active Key can access any app you desire w/ a short press, long press, and double-tap for 3 different app launches.
And lastly, it has a massive 4000 mAh battery. It might be the biggest battery on a smartphone since, well, since about ever. Breaking the record previously held by the original Droid Turbo of 3900 mAh. Within the few days w/ the S7 Active, it is pretty hard to kill. Moderate usage, I got 2 and half days of juice before I got the low battery warning. While on medium to heavy, I got just under 20 hours of juice - all on a single charge.
The S7 Active will arrive on June 10th for $26.50 monthly on the standard next plans & $33.13 monthly on the Next Every Year. The S7 Active will be available in 3 colors: Sandy Gold, Green Camo and Titanium Gray.
