Earlier this week, a report went out in regards to the details for the smaller HTC-crafted Nexus (Sailfish) due out later this year. Yesterday, another report came to light revealing the details for the bigger, high-end HTC Nexus (Marlin).
Google may borrow from Apple’s 2-device playbook.
This report comes from the folks over at Android Police. The larger Nexus is slated to offer a 5.5inch QHD AMOLED display, a quad-core Qualcomm CPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB of storage, rear fingerprint scanner, 12MP shooter on the rear + 8MP shooter in front, USB-C, and a 3450 mAh battery.
When you compare these specs against that of the smaller Nexus, there isn’t much of a difference. The only things that set them apart are the display & battery sizes while everything else goes neck-for-neck. So instead of offering 2 different devices, Google & HTC appear to be utilizing Apple’s iPhone launch strategy. The iPhone 6S & 6S Plus are the same device minus the screen & battery.
Both devices along w/ the official launch of Android Nougat are expected to arrive later this summer. As long as they both have HTC’s newer version of BoomSound and the camera is like a faster version of the 5X/6P, I am already sold. How about you?
