After midnight, Google made their new FaceTime competitor, Duo, available to both Android and iOS. The 1-on-1 video chat was unveiled earlier this summer during Google I/O.
Google Duo will allow you to video chat w/ anyone in your contacts as long as they have the app too. To get started, all you need to do is verify your phone number and you’re ready to go. When someone calls, you get the Knock Knock feature which gives you a preview of who’s calling before answering the call.
The overall goal for Duo is to make it video chatting fast & reliable that can work seamlessly by handing off between cellular & Wi-Fi connection. Duo calls are lastly encrypted from end-to-end.
