Earlier today, we were in NYC w/ Sonos as they unveiled news on their upcoming software updates to add more features for their customers. On the audio side of things, I think they reign supreme in Hi-Fi audio for everyday consumer. While they have gotten a lot better on the software side of things, there are still many who might desire more. Today’s news should help out w/ that.
For you Spotify users out there, Sonos adding Spotify Connect integration for controlling your music. What does that mean for you? This means you can control your music (albums, playlists, etc.) all from within the Spotfiy app. Usually, you would have to use it via the Sonos app and add a song /album to your queue to play music. Also new to the Spotify experience, friends/family members w/ a Spotify account can swing by and play music off of their app as well.
Next up, we have integration of Amazon’s Alexa voice-enabling services are coming to Sonos. This will allow you to control their Sonos speakers by talking to your Echo, Dot, Tap, or Fire TV. You will be able to do things like raise/lower the volume, play/pause/skip songs, play songs from a particular source, and more.
The update to add Alexa abilities are set to arrive later this year as part of an invite-only beta test and coming to all sometime in 2017. The Spotify update will arrive sooner in October as part of their public beta program.
So who’s excited to do a bit more w/ your Sonos product?
