Along w/ the new iPhones, Apple revealed their own wireless earbuds called AirPods. The design is based off of their EarPods but is made wireless to support the whole-not-having -an-audio-jack-anymore. They come in the carrying case you see above as they connect to your Apple device by opening the case and tapping Connect.
The new AirPods utilize a proprietary W1 chip made by Apple to take care of the audio + wireless connections. Each bud has dual accelerometers + optical sensors on-board to know when they’re inside of your ear. They even have a mic for phone calls + access to Siri. It will offer a 5-hour battery life and the charging case pushes it to 25 hours.
The new AirPods are due out sometime in late October for $159. They’re kind of ugly to me and w/ that kind of $$$, you might as well go Bluetooth.
