And lastly the part everyone (maybe) has been waiting for, the actual reveal for the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus. We talked about a lot of things that were coming and it looks like it was spot on. We did manage to get more details on the full spec sheet for the most part.
Apple was definitely ‘inspired’ by others for this iPhone – more than ever.
The new iPhones will offer a slightly refined design w/ more curvy & rounded aluminum body that is now IP67 dust + water resistant. You have a new customizable & non-clickable Home button w/ Force Touch + haptic feedback. The 3.5mm headphone jack is officially gone as you will only have to use the Lightning port of go Bluetooth for your audio needs. Speaking of audio, the iPhone now offers stereo speakers as well. Inside you have a larger battery quoted at up to 12 hours of LTE (i7) + 13 hours of LTE (i7 Plus). Also, you have a more powerful A10 Fusion CPU, along w/ a new GPU and M10 co-processor to speed things up.
On the camera side of things, Apple finally gave the iPhone a real front-facing camera this time around. Enter the f/2.2 7MP FaceTime HD camera w/ automatic image stabilization. On the rear you have a f/1.8 12MP camera w/ OIS + quad-LED 2-tone flash. Like last year, the real goodies are on the iPhone 7 Plus. The 5.5inch iPhone offers a dual camera setup still w/ an f/1.8 12 MP sensor as its base but the 2nd lens adds 2x optical zoom into the mix. Allowing you to zoom up to 10x zoom combing optical + digital for a less noisy image.
They finally ditched the 16GB storage size as it now starts at 32GB then goes to 128GB and then 256GB. So moving forward, storage on your iPhone shouldn’t be much of a problem anymore. Other than that, the display sizes + resolution remains the same w/ a 4.7inch 720p panel & a 5.5inch 1080p panel.
The new iPhones will arrive in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and the new Black Finish w/ the Jet Black finish arriving only on the 128GB + 256GB models. The new iPhones will ship w/ new Lightning capable EarPods and a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter as well. Pre-orders kick off on September 9th and goes on sale on the 16th w/ pricing starting at $649 for the i7 and $769 for the i7 Plus.
