Despite falling back in love w/ Destiny after the launch of The Taken King, I haven't been playing Destiny or any game this year. The Batman Telltale series has been a part of the site's gaming resurgence. Now it's time to shift gears towards the latest DLC: The Rise Of Iron.
Newcomers to the Rise Of Iron will require Destiny along w/ all of the other DLCs (The Dark Below, House Of Wolves, & The Taken King). It will eat up 14GB of storage space BTW. You'll have to grab the entire collection for $60. The new DLC leaves the now older-gen gaming consoles behind. So if you're a big Destiny gamer on the PS3 or Xbox 360, you're completely S.O.L. as you'll need a Xbox One or PS4 to play. However, you can upgrade via the Destiny Collection for $40.
Now that all of that info is out of the way, it's time to talk about the Rise Of Iron.
Rise Of Iron isn't about the campaign, It's about everything else.
To get caught up to speed w/ everything that's going on in the Rise Of Iron expansion pack. The Fallen bad guys from The Taken King breaks through a wall at the edge of Old Russia to release an ancient plague upon us. A nanotech virus called SIVA that the Iron Lords put away quite some time ago - long before where we begin on the original Destiny. This forces you link up w/ the last of the Iron Lords, Saladin who has been selling you Iron Banner stuff, to get rid of them before the other bad guys figure out how to weaponize it.
The new campaign isn't too long but w/ Destiny that's usually the easy part anyways. Most of your time will be focused on strikes, raids, and of course, the Crucible. They even added a new Supremacy mode which acts like a Kill Confirmed (a la Call Of Duty). Which is definitely a favorite of mines where you gotta collect a crest after killing an opponent.
There is a new raid called Wrath Of The Machine this time around. While there is a lot to like love w/ Rise Of Iron, this raid might be one of the top things from this expansion pack. The part I'm referring to is when you're driving a massive rig along the Cosmodrone wall and have to replace engine parts before it blows up.
You might want to make sure your Light levels are high enough cause if not, it's gonna be way tougher than it should be for you - especially during the raids. It is definitely a lot harder to raise your Light level this time around. You got a do lot more this time around to only raise your levels up very little.

Me personally, the previous expansion packs were ok but The Taken King helped me truly appreciate Destiny for what it is. For their latest one, you still have the new grind of building up your Guardian and raising your Light levels for an expansion pack. If you already own & enjoy Destiny, this is a great way to get back into it. If you're just picking up a PS4 or Xbox One/One S, the Destiny collection is a great way to dive in and get started. Newcomers keep in mind, it will take a bit of time/dedication to get to point where you can truly enjoy Destiny. Better to get it out of the way now before we Destiny 2 makes it way to the masses which is due out sometime next year.
