The other half of the 2 apps Google announced at I/O this year is finally starting its rollout process. Google Allo is their smart messaging app that utilizes their learning AI called Google Assistant.
With Allo, you have several new features that are new to a Google messaging app. You got smart replies that show you quick responses, the ability to respond via photos/emoji/stickers/drawing on photos, quick access to info (like calendar events, local restaurants, weather, sports, playing videos, and more.) w/ Google Assistant, encrypted chat w/ Incognito Mode, and SMS options for those you reach out to who don’t have Allo on their phone.
Similar to their video calling app Duo, it too is for mobile only and is tied to your phone number + Google account. If you’re on Android and can’t wait for it to become available, you can download Allo here. For everyone else on iOS, you’re gonna have to wait. Hopefully for not too long.
