We just keep getting more and more details on the everything Google is cooking up. So far we’re looking at a 5inch and 5.5inch QHD smartphones w/ quad-core Snapdragon CPUs, 4GB of RAM, and 12MP rear shooters both made by HTC. They’re supposed to be ditching the Nexus brand for something else. We may have a better idea on what it could be.
Thanks to the folks over at Android Police, we may be now calling these Google phones the Pixel & Pixel XL. The Pixel being the 5inch device and the Pixel XL for the 5.5inch device of course. The name itself isn’t much of a surprise but the pattern is as Pixel devices have usually been made 100% by Google. The Pixel devices won’t show off any HTC branding and possibly any handset maker from here on out.
Also set to arrive, their Alexa competitor Google Home, a new 4K-capable Chromecast, and their Daydream View VR headset are all set to be unveiled along w/ the Pixel smartphones. The 4K Chromecast is new but I would imagine there wouldn’t be much difference other than adding compatibility for UHD TVs. Not sure if they will change the design but they really don’t need to unless components won’t allow it.
All of the devices mentioned above are set to be unveiled on October 4th. No word on if there will be an event for it but we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
