Kingston's track record of gaming headsets are short-lived and pretty much immaculate in my opinion. Earlier this year instead of another Cloud X, they decided to switch things up a bit w/ a newer one. Now we're rolling w/ the HyperX Cloud Revolver which is a bit more higher-end take on a gaming headset.
They made sure to make some changes in regards to the look of this particular Cloud headset. This has a steel frame w/ a suspension headband, equipped w/ a pair of 50mm directional drivers, and a noise-cancelling mic w/ audio control box. Like the other Cloud headset before it, this works w/ Mac, mobile devices (smartphones/tablets), PC, PS4, Wii U, and the Xbox One.
After finally cracking it open and gaming within our past few gaming reviews on it. We're ready to tell you everything you need to know about it.
Design/Comfort
Despite its appearance, it is super-comfortable as well as being more lightweight than it looks. HyperX prides itself in utilizing memory foam for their headphones and continues it here. I can easily wear these for hours for gaming and then keep them on to listen to music w/o disturbing anyone else.
Sound
The plug-in mic is a noise-cancelling flexible one and works as well as advertised. Good enough to pick up your voice w/o too much of the background involved. Ideal for gaming and even phone calls while you're at home at least).
The Cloud Revolver: way more comfortable than it looks w/ better & bigger sound.
TG 2 Cents
Some of you prefer a less industrial, more portable pair of cans or virtual 7.1 surround sound. These may not be the best for being compact due to the way these cans are designed. But for those of you who are just seeking a great pair of cans for gaming and maybe rocking out to some tunes discreetly, the Cloud Revolvers were made just for you.
