The next step in Google’s hardware & VR efforts are about to become available for all Pixel owners out there. Yes, the Google Cardboard replacement the Daydream VR, is set to arrive next week on November 10th.
I was able to demo the Daydream VR at the Google Pop-Up shop in NYC and it is a pretty comfortable VR experience. It is lightweight and made of breathable fabric to keep the sweating at a minimum. Unlike smarpthone-based VR headsets, it comes equipped w/ a controller to navigate through whatever content or gaming you’re going through.
It will be priced at $79 and will offer a handful of apps at launch like Hulu VR, YouTube VR, NY Times VR, Home Run Derby, Need For Speed: No Limits VR, and more. So who’s looking to grab one?
