Apple made sure to bring back the hardware side of things at WWDC w/ updated Macs. More specifically, the iMac, the MacBook Air, MacBook, and MacBook Pros. And for some models, it’s more than just the new Kaby Lake Intel chips.
The 12inch MacBook gets faster SSDs while the MacBook Air is finally getting some love w/ a faster 1.8GHz Intel CPU to give users a new speed boost. The MacBook now caps out at 1.3GHz Core i7 CPU, the 13.3inch MacBook Pro goes up to a 3.5GHz Core i7, and the 15inch MacBook Pro goes up to a 3.1GHz Core i7 CPU.
The new iMacs are now powerful enough to handle full VR.
Moving on to the new iMacs, all of them now offer improved displays & 2 Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports. Apple dubs it the best Mac display ever w/ over 500 nits of brightness. The entry-level 21.5inch offers the new Kaby Lake Intel CPUs, an Intel Iris Plus 640 GPU, can be configured up to 32GB of RAM. The 27inch 5K model has the option for Radeon Pro 570, 575, or 580 GPUs w/ 8GB of VRAM.
The 21.5-inch iMac will start at $1099 and the 4K 21.5-inch model at $1299. All of the new Macs are now available today.
