Last night, Tesla unveiled their long-awaited, fully-electric semi truck to the world for all to see & behold. Its called simply the Tesla Semi Truck as this time around there would be no Model name followed by a letter.
They took the size & specs of a semi and fused it w/ what they would envision is should be able to do. So we have a super aerodynamic design that’s streamlined to get the most speed & performance out of it. You a single seat centered in the middle that is in-between 2 consoles w/ one controls vehicle functions + settings and the other handles the radio & navigation w/ future configurations coming soon.
It runs on 4 independent motors on rear axles w/ up to a 500-mile range that can 0-60mph in 5 seconds (cab only) & 0-60 mph in 20 seconds carrying an 80,000 lb load. Their Semi would save drivers around $20,000 in fuel costs alone. Tesla will be taking $5000 reservations for the Semi Truck as production is supposed to start sometime in 2019. But w/ their track record, I would expect it to start a bit later than that.
Word has it that Walmart is already interested and ready to reserve a fleet of trucks for their line. So who interested in this?
