Kia got some vehicle refreshes for this year's NY Auto Show, starting w/ the 2019 edition of the Kia Optima. We got some new design inspirations, new tech inside, new tricks for their UVO infotainment, & more. Let's break down all that's new.

Lots of great new tech features arriving to the 2019 model Optima.

They got their new ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System which is a suite of technologies working together to prevent crashes. Like the FCA or Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist that applies the brakes to slow down automatically. Then there's the FCW or Forward Collision Warning System to provide audible alerts & visual displays to warn drivers ahead of time. You got LKA or Lane Keep Assist to correct steering when driving when drifting or tired, and LDW or Lane Departure Warning to alert you of when you're in the lines.
What's new w/ their UVO system is that its now standard on the base LX model as UVO play. This offers support for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and control via your smartphone as well as make calls, messaging, & music. UVO link will be standard on the S & EX models to offer diagnostics, maintenance alerts, speed alerts, remote start w/ HVAC control, remote lock/unlock, & remote horn/lights. And lastly, UVO link w/ navigation is offered optionally on the EX w/ premium package & standard on the SX/SXL.

The LX Model gets:

  • Stinger-based daytime running lights
  • 16inch alloy wheels
  • matte gray finish for the grill

The S Model gets:

  • new projection fog light beams
  • LED tail lights
  • dual exhaust
  • 18inch alloy wheels
  • smart key
  • push-button start
  • smart trunk
  • power front windows w/ auto up & down function

The EX Model gets:

  • a turbocharged 178-hp engine w/ a 7-speed dual clutch transmission + adaptive Smart Shift drive mode
  • leather seating w/ front heated seats
  • 17inch alloy wheels w/ Smart Cruise Control
  • heated steering wheel
  • ambient multi-color interior lighting
  • and everything from the S Model

And the SX & SX Limited (SXL) gets:

  • 18inch wheels w/ Michelin tires
  • new fog lights
  • ambient interior lighting
  • sport steering wheel
  • Smart Cruise Control
  • 2-tone leather-trimmed seats
  • a panoramic roof
  • Harman Kardon premium audio system w/ UVO link w/ Navigation
