Earlier this morning during the wee hours of the night, HTC made its latest flagship official.  Introducing the HTC U12+: their new & powerful flagship w/ multiple cameras, lots of power/features, and no notch present.

HTC is back w/ a super long spec sheet that’s impressive.

They made sure to beef up their device to compete w/ the rest of the smartphone herd of 2018.  The U12+ touts a 6inch QHD Super LCD 6 display w/ 537ppi + HDR 10 support, powered by a Snapdragon 845 CPU, 6GB of RAM, choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage expandable via microSD, running Android 8.0 Oreo w/ HTC Sense UX, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3500 mAh battery w/ Quick Charge 3.0.  All of this within an IP68 w/ dust + water-resistant translucent body.

In regards to the cameras, you got 2 in the front & 2 in the back.  Starting w/ the rear, we have a f/ 1.7 12MP wide-angle camera w/ HTC UltraPixel 4 and a f/2.6 16MP telephoto camera.  With these, you’ll have UltraSpeed Autofocus 2 (Phase detection + Laser autofocus), dual LED flash, OIS + EIS, optical zoom up to 2x, HDR support, AR stickers, bokeh mode, Pro mode w/ RAW support, 4K video @60fps, 1080p slow motion @240fps, 24-bit high quality audio recording, Sonic Zoom, Audio Boost, and 3D Audio recording with 4 microphones.  While the front camera has dual 8MP shooters that allows you to record video in 1080p, utilize bokeh mode, and AR sticker support.

As far as other features, you can still squeeze the phone w/ Edge Sense to access an app or feature as now you can do even more w/ it.  You can now Hold to avoid screen rotation or screen dimming, Tap to access one-handed use/back key/mini navigation bar, and squeeze your phone to take photos/launch voice assistants/bring up Edge Launcher to quickly access your favorite apps, contacts and quick settings.  HTC brings support for both Amazon Alexa & Google Assistant on one device w/ Always listening support.

You get the return of BoomSound as they called BoomSound Hi-Fi armed w/ a woofer + tweeter on board, high-res music streaming via Bluetooth, and built-in noise-cancellation w/ headphones thanks to HTC USonic support.  Also, still no headphone jack as you’ll have to use a dongle.

Pre-orders for the U12+ kick off today on HTC’s site & Amazon.  It will work on all carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) except for Sprint for some reason.  It will arrive in 2 colors of Translucent Blue & Ceramic Black.  The 64GB model of the Blue will cost you $799 while the 128GB model for $849.  The Black will only arrive in 64GB storage size.

Based off what I’ve heard and seen, this might be the sleeper device of the year.  Hopefully, we can get one to review to find out for sure.  What’re your thoughts on the latest from HTC?
