It’s been pretty quiet for Nikon in regards to any new news or even new camera bodies. It was to the point I was getting nervous for them as I’m sure they lost customers to Sony, Canon, Fuji, or Panasonic. There were talks of them working on a mirrorless camera for quite some time now. Looks like they’re finished and almost ready to show it off.
The teaser above shows off a full-frame mirrorless camera that would compete w/ the competition – hopefully. The video above quietly highlights the camera’s low-light & video abilities which is a departure from Nikon’s photography- first mentality. You see a massive display, a massive lens mount, an EVF, and a body style similar to the larger mirrorless shooters like the Sony A7III or Panasonic GH5s.
Looks like Nikon ain’t going down w/o a fight. Definitely took them long enough but I am wishing them well. Competition gives consumers more options and I would hate to see them fold due to not keeping up and being stuck in their old ways.
It is rumored to be officially unveiled in September at Photokina. I definitely want to see more about this shooter. If Nikon knocks this full-frame mirrorless camera out of the park, are you giving them a shot?
