This morning, Google announced an update for their fitness-focused app, Google Fit.  It has a new simplified UI and is made to focus on movement & cardio health w/ weekly goals to be motivated & competitive.  This is the 2nd update since the app was released back in 2014.

Google’s new take might be similar to the Apple Watch w/ closing rings but they said it was a recommendation from the AHA (American Heart Association) & the WHO (World Health Organization) to do so.  By implementing 2 goals to complete w/ move minutes & heart points.  Move Minutes is a better way of tracking your movement rather than steps.  While Heart Points will encourage you to do more activities to get your heart rate up – especially those who don’t go to the gym.

The app will arrive to Android & Wear OS as those who’re using a Wear OS smartwatch can get a more accurate reading for Heart Points.  The update should be rolling out later this week.

Who’s looking to utilize this to stay on top of their health a bit better?
