Earlier this morning, DJI held an event out in Brooklyn to unveil their newest drones: the Mavic 2. These will arrive in 2 forms: the Mavic 2 Zoom & the Mavic 2 Pro. Everything pretty much matches up to the previous leaks on these two.
So we got the Mavic 2 Zoom that offers a 24-48mm optical zoom lens w/ a 40% faster auto-focus & Dolly Zoom. While the Mavic 2 Pro offers a 20MP Hasselblad lens w/ 4K HDR 10-bit video & Hasselblad’s color science. Other than that, both drones offer the same design w/ quieter motors, 31-minute flight time, 44 mph top speed, a total of 10 sensors on board to offer 360-degrees of object avoidance, and 8GB of internal storage.
Both drones are available right now w/ the Zoom priced at $1,200 and the Pro is priced at $1500. If you want the Fly More Kit, that will cost you an extra $319 and comes w/ 2 batteries, a charging hub, a car charger, 2 pairs of propellers, and a carrying bag.
I just hope DJI doesn’t burn themselves out by dropping too many drones as they got enough to cover all of the pricing points and range from consumer/prosumer/professional. These both sound great for creators but not sure if this warranted another drone rather than attachment pieces.
