Today marks the beginning of a new day.  I say that because Sony is finally allowing for cross-platform gaming between the other systems like the Nintendo Switch & Xbox One.  Today it kicks off starting w/ the ever-so-popular Fortnite.

Previously Sony blocked cross-play access but in a recent blog, the head of PlayStation says they’ve found a solution to finally make it happen.  They’re kicking things off w/ an open beta for Fortnite that will allow cross-platform gameplay, progression & commerce across the PS4, Switch, Xbox One as well as Android, iOS, PC, & Mac.

This is a step in the right direction to allow gamers on different platforms to play against & w/ each other.  Since most games are played via online multiplayer anyways, not sure what took them so long.  Microsoft & Nintendo have been playing w/ each other for quite some time now.  Glad Sony is finally joining the party.

Now if only Sony can go back and open it up for Minecraft & Rocket League.
