Well, the cat is officially out of the bag.  Say hello, officially, to the new iPhone XS & iPhone XS Max.  Like any other phone w/ the same branding, the only differences are in the display  & battery sizes.  

So both the iPhone XS & the iPhone XS Max will offer OLED displays w/ HDR, Dolby Vision and HDR 10 support, powered by the hexa-core A12 Bionic CPU, IP68 dust + water-resistant body, faster Face ID, quad-core GPU that supports AR (augmented reality) features like animoji & more, dual SIM support, and wireless charging.  

The cameras get a boost this time around as well.  The shooters offer a dual rear-facing setup w/ f/1.8 12MP wide-angle sensor w/ OIS + TrueTone flash and a f/2.2 7MP front-facing sensor.  You an overall faster capture/image processing thanks to the A12 Bionic chipset, you got Smart HDR which is Apple’s take on Google’s Pixel camera, improved portrait mode, stereo sound recording for video.   

Both versions of the XS/XS Max will arrive in 64GB, 256GB, & 512GB storage options.  The 64GB variant of the iPhone XS starts at $999 while the XS Max 64GB starts at $1,099.  Pre-orders kick off on Friday and phones start shipping on September 21st.
