Now that Acer & HP have their versions out in the world, Google wants to take their hand at crafting a Chrome OS tablet. Introducing the Pixel Slate: their 2-in-1 Chrome OS tablet w/ detachable keyboard.
This is the Pixel C in w/ Chrome OS w/ the quality build of the Pixelbook.
The Pixel Slate will offer their take on the Surface tablet or the iPad Pro. It offers a 12.3inch display w/ front-firing stereo speakers, front + rear-facing cameras, and a fingerprint reader for security. This will have the power of high-end 8th-gen Intel CPUs (up to Core i7s), up to 16GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and the power of Chrome OS w/ Android apps inside. Unfortunately, there’s no headphone jack though so you’ll have to go Bluetooth for audio to yourself.
The new Pixel Slate starts at $599 w/ an Intel Celeron CPU and goes up to $1600. The Slate keyboard will cost you $199, and the Pen will cost you $99. Like everything else, Google is throwing in 6 months of YouTube TV w/ the purchase.
Looks like Google is pushing more the Chrome OS tablet rather than the Chromebooks this year. The Pixel Slate is due out later this year. Thoughts on their 2-in-1 laptop?
