Now that Google has been showing up for CES the past few years, this might be their biggest prescence there thus far.  Among the many updates arriving today, they’re giving Google Assistant yet another superpower: interpreter mode.  This will allow it to do real-time translation of up 27 languages (at launch and more coming).

You can think of it has a evolution of what they were trying to do w/ the Pixel Buds.  So starting off, it will only support these languages at launch: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

This will be fully baked into every device that supports Google Assistant and arriving on the Google Home Hub 1st.  It will roll out to other smart displays over the next few months.

Who’s looking forward to using this when it goes live?

Google
