To go along w/ the big news of welcome iTunes, we’re getting the best virtual assistants arriving as well to Samsung TVs.  Both Amazon’s Alexa and Google Assistant are set to arrive on their 2019 QLED lineup of TVs.

Unlike their deal w/ Apple, this one has a big glaring asterisk present.  You will have to provide the assistant device in order for it to work.  So for Alexa, you’ll need a member of the Echo family and for Google, you’ll need a member of the Google Home family.  Since Samsung’s TVs run their proprietary Tizen software, you’ll have to use Bixby to get all of their native voice features like control the volume, select apps, and turn the TV on/off.

This is a good move as they know Bixby is far from ready to compete so this way they can appease more people instead of pissing them off.  We’re waiting for the press release to see if they will support older TVs.

Is the smart speaker requirement a turn off for you or nah?
