So we knew the V50 was coming early but lo and behold it is a repurposed V40 w/ a newer internals & a 5G modem inside. The V40 was a great phone so I don’t really have an issue w/ that.
But for a quick recap on what the V40 and new specs has to offer. The new V50 has a 6.4inch QHD+ FullVision display w/ 3120 x 1440 resolution, Snapdragon 855 CPU, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD, Android 9.0 Pie, IP68 body, a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, headphone jack, Boombox speaker,DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, triple rear camera setup consisting of a f/1.9 16MP wide-angle + f/1.5 12MP standard + f/2.4 12MP telephoto lens, dual front-facing camera including a f/1.9 8MP standard + f/2.2 5MP wide-angle lens, 5G support, and a 4000 mAh battery.
So along w/ that you got a slightly heavier device as it has a new cooling system inside to handle the 5G heat + battery. LG ain’t joining the flexible phone wars just yet but they do have a new Dual Screen accessory. This is a 6.2inch OLED display that attaches to your phone like a case & uses the V50’s battery to power it. Unfortunately, the Dual Screen accessory ain’t coming to the US as it will be an international only device.
I’m just wondering will a V55 or V60 still arrive later this year or not. Whatever the case, the V50 will support Sprint & Verizon w/ Sprint getting exclusivity on it then VZW will get it. It is due out in coming months.
What do you think about the V50?
