Welcome to the new LG G-series smartphone for 2019. This is the LG G8 ThinQ bringing forth some new innovative tech to their Android flagship. Let’s start off w/ the internals before we go new features.
The G8 touts a 6.1inch QHD+ FullVision OLED display w/ 3120 x 1440 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 855 CPU, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD, dual rear-facing cameras: a f/1.9 16MP wide-angle + f/1.7 12MP standard lens, a front-facing f/1.7 8MP camera, a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, headphone jack, Boombox speaker,DTS:X 3D Surround Sound, an IP68 dust/water-resistant body, running Android 9 Pie, and a 3500 mAh battery. Now onto the new goodies.
- The G8 offers a new Crystal Sound OLED panel that turns the display into a speaker diaphragm so you won’t miss not having a front-facing speaker. It even doubles as a earpiece for phone calls as that it gone as well.
- Next up, we have the new Z Camera in the front or ToF (Time of Flight) camera that allows you to use gesture controls called Air Motion to unlock your phone, open apps, or select apps w/o having to even touch your phone.
- And lastly, we have Hand ID security measure which sounds pretty cool. It utilizes an infrared signal at your palm to map your veins to know its you to unlock your device. All by putting your hand in front of the G8. Making it a possibly hard to beat security measure for LG.
So the G8 is more or less a faster, louder, & more secure update tot he G7. I’m hoping the software & camera quality improves then hopefully it can be a contender instead of another sleeper hit.
