For those of you still waiting for Apple’s AirPower wireless charging pad, you can stop now.   Yesterday, the folks over at Tech Crunch got the official word that it ain’t coming as the product has been scrapped.

In a statement by Apple’s SVP of hardware engineering Dan Riccio had this to say about it:

“After much effort, we’ve concluded AirPower will not achieve our high standards and we have cancelled the project. We apologize to those customers who were looking forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and are committed to push the wireless experience forward.”

After being announced back in September 2017 along w/ the iPhone X, it has yet to see the light of day.  There were issues of overheating due to the multiple coils as it seems like Apple wasn’t able to deliver its promise of it charging up to 3 devices at once.  Well, I guess we now know why it didn’t get released this week along w/ the other Apple announcements.

But since that’s officially no longer an option, we’re not gonna leave you hanging.  If you’re still in need for a wireless charging solution, we got 2 recommendations for you:  the Nomad Base Station or the Samsung Wireless Charger Duo.  We reviewed the Nomad Station and loved it as you can charge up to 4 products wired & wirelessly.  They have a version of it that supports Apple Watch as well.  While the Samsung Duo can charge both your phone & smartwatch too.

You can get the Nomad Hub here and the Samsung Duo here.
