Yesterday, Google dealt Huawei a hurtful blow to continuing to penetrate the US market by cutting off their Android license.  This is a part of the US war against select Chinese companies as Huawei has been on Trump’s shit list for many months now and this takes things up a notch.

So what does this mean for Huawei devices moving forward?  This means the company is left to utilize the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) which allows them to use the platform for their devices but will be limited to little access.   This means their devices won’t get proper Android updates (security ones + OS) as well as miss out on access to Google apps like Gmail, Maps, etc.

This also applies to their laptops moving forward as well.  As Intel also cut Huawei off from using their processors to utilize for their laptops.  So until this ban changes, no more of their great MateBook laptops either.   Bummer all around for Huawei fans.

This continues to put a damper on Huawei’s attempt to put a dent in the US market.  Despite rising up to number of phone sales everywhere else in the world. According to the US, they consider Huawei to be an arm of the Chinese government.  In case you wanted to know what’s the big deal.

So not sure if this will lead to Huawei crafting their own mobile OS or not.   Not sure how long this ban will last.  The longer it does, the worse it’s gonna be for Huawei and it’s brands.  The question is how well will it bode for their upcoming Honor 20 launch this week as how this will affect other Chinese-based companies like OnePlus, Oppo, etc.
