Today Huawei unveils their latest addition to their budget line w/ the Honor 20 and 20 Pro out in London. While we were out in Cali for I/O, we got a chance to attend a meeting and demo both devices.  But before we give you our initial thoughts, let’s break down what it has to offer.

The new Honor 20 touts a beautiful 2.5D 6.26inch FullHD+ IPS display, powered by their very own quad-core Kirin 980 CPU w/ dual NPU + GPU Turbo 3.0, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, running Android 9 Pie on top of EMUI 9, fingerprint reader built-into the Power button, Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound and a massive 4000 mAh battery.  Everything ran pretty fast and smooth for the most part.

In regards to cameras, the Honor 20 offers an f/1.4 48MP AI camera + OIS w/ 3 x optical zoom + 30x digital zoom and its own Super Night Mode +, Hu 32MP AI Selfie camera.  The camera quality looks to be on par to what Huawei did w/ the P30 line of shooters.  So shots came out pretty sharp, bright colors, and good dynamic range.  But mind you that this was only playing w/ the device on a balcony for like 20 mins or so.
Now for those of you concerned about the recent US ban on Huawei products, the Honor 20 line will get full Google support for 3 years.  So that should cover those of you interested in this one.  But if you like what else Huawei has to come this year, we’ll have to take that as a case-by-case basis.  The Honor 20 is due within the next month or so in the UK.  Not sure about other regions.

Do you plan on picking this one up or does the bad press deter you from it being an option?
