Beware older MacBook Pro owners! Specifically, those of you who own a 15inch model from mid-2015. If you have one, you & your safety could be at risk.
Yesterday, Apple announced a recall for a mid-2015 MacBook Pro (pre-Touch Bar) which was sold between September 2015 to February 2017. This is a voluntary recall as a they say only a limited number of models have batteries that may overheat and become a danger.
The good news is that if you’re uncertain when you picked yours up, you can identified by their product serial number. Apple will replace your battery free of charge or through an authorized service provider. The bad news is that the service can take up to 2 weeks and will be out of a laptop.
If you’re able to do this, the replacement will extend the life of your MacBook as it will probably last longer than the Touch bar models.
