Yesterday we shared the image of a render of what could be the new Pixel 4 by Google.  Last night, we got another detail about a new feature it will offer: motion control.

Now before you roll your eyes in disgust, pump your brakes a bit.  This is supposed to be better than what LG did w/ the G8 ThinQ.  Some of you may or may not remember Project Soli from Google’s ATAP division that was unveiled at I/O 2016.  Soli is a motion-sensing technology that utilizes radar to track hand/finger moments in a 3D space w/ millimeter-level accuracy.

The folks over at 9to5Google reported that the Soli radar chip will be integrated into the upcoming Pixel 4.  Then shortly there after, the folks over XDA found pieces of an Aware sensor within the code of the Android Q beta.  It shows off code for skipping or silencing within the media playback controls.  If this works as well as the Soli demos back then, this could be a new standout feature for the new Pixels.

If Soli does make its way to the Pixel 4, I’m curious to see if it will make its way to other Google products like the next-gen Google Home & more.

Would this be something you’d be interested in if it works well?  Let us know.
