Many pro users have been waiting for this as it is now here. This is the long-awaited Mac Pro for 2019. So turn in your trash cans for a giant cheese grater? Yeah, this is a weird design choice as a poor remix to the older Mac Pro towers everyone loves and respects.
This is 20inches tall and starting weight at around 40lbs. It is a modular design like Apple promised as you can take the cover off and swap out parts and such. It is armed w/ an Intel Xeon W CPU that goes up to 28 cores, up to a whopping 1.5TB of RAM, up to 4TB of SSD storage, room for 2 GPUs but goes up to 4 in total w/ the choice of Radeon Pro Vega 2, Radeon Pro Vega 2 Duo, & more, 8 PCI slots, 2 USB-C/2 USB-A/2 Gigabit Ethernet, can expand to add 2 more USB-C + USB-A ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and Apple’s new Afterburner ProRes accelerator card for dedicated 4K HDR video editing.
So yeah, it’s a lot of power in side of this ugly-looking thing they call a computer tower.
This is the new Cinema Display more or less as its been updated for modern times. The XDR is a 32inch 6K LCD panel w/ 6016 x 3384 resolution, up to 1,600 nits, 1,000,000:1 aspect ratio, can support up to 6 displays, can be rotated into Portrait mode w/ the Pro Stand, and supports P3/10-bit color support w/ reference modes built in.
The Mac Pro starts at $6,000 that ships w/ 8-core Xeon CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The Pro Display XDR starts at $5,000 and the Pro stand (that’s right the stand is separate) costs $1,000. Both of these super expensive items go on sale later this fall.
Not sure what body part you’re gonna sell to pick either or both of these up.
