So it looks like Samsung got all of the kinks out of their folding phone. The Galaxy Fold was set to launch in April but after review units started suffering from durability issues to their design, they decided to halt the launch. Since then, they’ve been working meticulously to get it right.
Yesterday, they announced the return of the Galaxy Fold smartphone set to arrive in September. So why did they work on to resolve the matter?
- The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.
- Galaxy Fold features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience:
- The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps.
- Additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display have been included to reinforce the protection of the display.
- The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.
Despite these changes, they’re still testing to be certain up until the September release. The original pricing for it was $1,980, you may as well say over $2.000 w/ taxes applied. No word on whether or not that would change but I doubt it. The phone will be available at AT&T and Samsung as T-Mobile opted out of offering the re-release of the Fold.
Are you looking to pick up the Fold upon its return or nah?
