YouTubers and cinematographers all over are falling in love w/ the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K by Blackmagic. Kind of out of no where, Blackmagic updated their Pocket Cinema Camera and go from 4K to 6K w/ relatively the same body – for the most part.
So at 1st glance, you can see the larger lens mount as it now uses Canon’s EF lens mount instead of the Micro Four Thirds one on the 4K one. It has a Super 35 format that close to APS-C sensor w/ a 6144 x 3456 resolution, offers 13 stops of dynamic range w/ dual ISO of 400 and 25,600, can shoot up to 50fps in 6144 x 3456, 60fps in 6144 x 2560, 60fps in 4096 x 2160, or 120fps in 2868 x 1512.
Outside of that, you got the same 5inch touchscreen, mini XLR, full-size HDMI, USB-C, DC power, mic input, and headphone output. All for almost double the price for the 4K model. The good news is that for those of you who got the 4K still on backorder, you can still cancel and put that $$ towards a 6K model in a matter of days.
For the rest of you that’s interested, the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is available right now for $2,495. Are you picking one up?
