When Google dropped the Home Mini (now the Nest Mini), it became the most popular smart speaker of that year and got Google Assistant inside of plenty of homes. This year, they’re giving it a mild update to try and catch those who didn’t pick one up.
So this is the 2nd-gen Google Nest Mini. For starters, it looks exactly the same as the previous model w/ a few differences. For one, it has a built-in wall mount so you now have the option to hang it on the wall or a flat surface. It even ships w/ a longer cable to do so w/ ease. You now have more wattage for twice the bass & louder overall output. There’s a proximity sensor that will show off the current volume when you get near it. And extra 3rd mic to better hear commands over the audio output. And lastly, upgrade to Bluetooth 5.0 for . If you were hoping for the rumored a 3.5mm audio jack, prepared to be disappointed.
So outside of what we spoke on, that pretty much about it. The pricing will remain the same at $49 w/ Chalk, Charcoal, Coral, and Sky color options for you to choose from. This is really a super mild update. Don’t think it would be worth upgrading to if you already have it. Maybe if the aux out was present or something cool like the Pixel 4’s Motion Sense.
