This was the last thing we were waiting for from Apple: the 16inch MacBook Pro. At 1st glance, it doesn’t offer too much change but the devil is in the details of it all. Let’s dive into it all.
Apple brought back the heft into the MacBook Pro.
You got a 16inch 3072 x 1920 resolution display w/ 226ppi, start off w/ a 6-core Intel Core i7 CPU and goes up to a 8-core Intel Core i9 CPU, 16GB of RAM and goes up to 64GB, 512GB SSD and goes up to 8TB SSD, up to a AMD Radeon Pro 5500M GPU, a new backlit Magic Keyboard that replaces the butterfly switch-based keys from previous models, Touch ID, Touchbar, improved thermals, 6 speakers w/ woofers for a wide stereo sound, Dolby Atmos support, 3 studio-quality mics, the same 720p FaceTime webcam, 4 USB-C ports, headphone jack, and a new 100W battery capable of up to 11 hours of juice. All of this in a 4.3lbs body so most of you picking this up will probably need a new backpack to carry this in. So yeah, its a lot going on.
I do like that Apple beefed up the specs for the base model w/o going too crazy w/ the pricing- at least to start with. The new MacBook Pro starts at $2,400 and goes all the way up to a whopping $6,100. With this new 16inch model here now, Apple just killed off the beloved 15inch model BTW.
So now we have a bit more balance on Apple’s site when it comes to choosing a MacBook. Now that the 15inch is gone, you can start off w/ the 13inch model w/ good specs that can be maxed out. Or opt for the new 16inch model w/ pretty powerful specs on the base model.
Will this be added to your Christmas wishlist?
