A few weeks ago, we got word of Google working on their version of AirDrop called Nearby Share.  Late last week, a hands-on demo video was released & posted by the folks over at XDA Developers who’s been killing it lately w/ the leaks BTW.

So for starters, Nearby Sharing will work on most Android devices.  It will utilize Bluetooth to create a connection and then use Wi-Fi to transfer files within 1ft of each other.  In its current state, it is accessible within the Quick Settings.  Now it ain’t perfect as it fails once but it does show how fast it is though.

Despite Samsung working on their version of it as well for only Galaxy devices, its nice to know Google will have a more universal version of the feature.  Hopefully, it comes soon – preferably around or before I/O.  Now that Google has this being worked on, maybe they can finally create their version of iMovie/video editor.

Thoughts?
