OnePlus is making an appearance at CES 2020. But not unveiling a new phone but an actual concept phone – sort of anyways. Meet the new OnePlus Concept One. Its not a new device but it is sporting new technology.
So let’s get the usual stuff out of the way. This is just the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren 5G Edition but has a treated aluminum build covered in Papaya Orange leather – similar to what LG did w/ the G4 many years ago. So that we got that out of the way now onto the new stuff.
OnePlus is using their technology borrowed form one of their partners: MacLaren. More specifically, the electrochromic glass last seen on the roof on the MacLaren 720S sports car. So what it does is that it glass that can tint the glass & ‘hide’ the cameras and transition completely in 0.7 seconds. However what it is done, you can still see the camera lenses at certain angles.
Another cool thing that comes w/ the electrochromic glass is that it can double as an ND filter (sunglasses for your camera lenses) to shoot better photos/videos in the sunlight or brighter situations as well as improve the overall dynamic range in the end results. Despite adding a bit of blue/green hue to its imagery though. This can be accessed in Pro mode of the camera.
Now this is on a functioning device so its only a concept in regards only being on this one device. Its need to probably do some slight tweaking before its ready for prime-time. Hopefully, we’ll see it on one of their flagships for 2020 or early 2021.
Is this a feature OnePlus fans would be looking to have on your next device?
