This morning, LG unveiled their new flagship for 2020. Not its not the G9 but instead its the V60 or the V60 ThinQ 5G to be exact. LG maintained a lot fo what they usually do and beefed up a few things for the new year. Let’s dive into it all.
LG skipped the G series and went straight to the V series for 2020.
So you got a 6.8inch FHD+ P-OLED display w/ 2,460 x 1,080 resolution, powered by the Snapdragon 865 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD, in-display fingerprint reader, IP68 dust + water resistant body, 4 mics for better call + video audio quality, a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, a headphone jack, stereo speakers, running Android 10 w/ LG’s custom UI, Wi-Fi 6 support, and a massive 5000 mAh battery inside w/ Quick Charge 4.0.
In regards to the camera side of things, you drop down to triple sensors on the rear. You got a f/1.8 64MP standard lens, a f/1.9 super wide 13MP, and a Z Camera or ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. The main 64MP sensor will use pixel binning to capture 16MP shots to fight noise in low-light situations. For video, you can do 8K video @24fps which is a nice upgrade. For you selfie takers, you got a f/1.9 10MP standard shooter in the front.
And last but not least, you got the Dual Screen accessory from the G8X. Its not the exact same one as it has been improved since its last iteration. This adds an extra 6.8inch FHD+ display for multitasking and more screen real estate. On the G8X, you had to pay for the extra screen and on the V60 it will come included in the box. Nice touch LG.
As far as the 5G situation, it will be similar to Samsung’s S20. It will launch for every carrier save for Verizon 1st and a proper 5G-supported model for VZW will drop at a later time. LG hasn’t revealed pricing as of yet but it is expected to drop sometime next month.
Depending on the pricing, will this be your next phone?
