Yesterday, the folks over at Google let us know about new features coming to Google Duo this week. There’s actually 4 new features to be exact to help keep in contact w/ loved ones during this quarantine period.
- One of them is a new video codec called AOMedia Video 1 which will improve video quality + reliability – even those w/ low bandwidth connections.
- Next up, we got photo support. This will allow you to take snapshots of a chat but now it will offer a higher quality image and a new UI layout to go along w/ it.
- Then we have new AR effects for your video & voice messages. They currently disappear after 24 hours but soon you’ll be able to automatically saved to your messages in Duo.
- And last but not least, more people can come into your group call. Google is increasing it from 8 to 12 people as well as the ability to send a group video message as well to another Duo user.
If you haven’t been using Google Duo, now is a good time to check it out. Its available on all things Android, iOS, web browsers on PC & Mac, smart speakers, & smart displays.
