The latest smartphone from Sony aims to be a perfect companion for shooters & cinematographers w/the Xperia 1 II. We finally got a release date & pricing for it – and yes, it is coming to the US. Available on July 24th for $1,200 w/ pre-orders on June 1st that come w/ a free pair of WF-1000XM3 earbuds.
The Xperia 1 II offers a 6.5inch 4K HDR OLED display, Snapdragon 865 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of UFS storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD, Android 10, fingerprint sensor, 5G support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 4000 mAh battery w/ wireless charging. On the rear, you got 3 12MP sensors (16mm, 24mm, and 70mm ZEISS optics) capable of up to 20fps in burst mode, 247 AF points for auto-focus for eye-tracking, Photography + Cinematography Pro apps for more manual control over camera settings and can be used a viewfinder w/ Sony Alpha cameras.
Even though the Xperia 1 II will offer 5G support, it will only support LTE here in the US. The Xperia Pro will support Verizon’s 5G mmW so it’s a possibility that this might be the only 5G version of the device in the US. It will offer a micro HDMI cable to use as a monitor as well as transmit data over 5G.
Sony is asking a lot for those but offering a lot as well. Especially for you videographers, YouTubers, & creatives. It is a premium product for a niche crowd though. Are you picking this one up?
