It looks like Sony did something they should’ve done years ago w/ their smartphones by making it work w/ their other Sony devices (cameras, games, TVs) but more so this time around like a more in-depth Apple-like ecosystem of sorts.  Earlier today, Sony unveiled their latest flagship phone in honor of MWC 2020 w/ the Xperia 1 II.

The new Sony phone offers a 6.5inch (21:9) CinemaWide 4K HDR OLED display w/ 3840 x 1644 resolution + motion-blur reduction.  This also offers a near-90Hz refresh rate experience despite it not being a 90Hz display.  Inside you got a Snapdragon 865 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage expandable up ot 1TB via microSD, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, front-facing stereo speakers w/ Dolby Atmos + Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, running Android 10, Bluetooth 5.1 support, up to IP68 water-resistant body, and a 4000 mAh battery w/ fast charging + wireless charging on board.

Now onto one of the bigger features on this thing: the cameras.  You got a total of 4 sensors (3 Zeiss 12MP lenses to be exact) to offer a variety of focal points and abilities.  You got a f/2.2 16mm ultra wide, a f/2.4 70mm telephoto, a f/1.7 24mm main, and a 3D iToF (Time of Flight) rear sensors.

These will be powered by Sony’s Bionz X for mobile chipset as this allows for Real-Time Eye AF for Humans + Animals as well as up to 20 fps AF / AE for ultra-fast focus.  You’ll also be able to shoot 4K HDR, 4K @60fps, and 2K @120fps video quality.  Along w/ that, you’ll have full manual controls for both photos & videos as well as the ability to use manual settings when using the Xperia 1 II as a remote for your Sony Alpha camera.

The Xperia 1 II is also gonna be a 5G phone as well but its looking like to support Europe-based 5G networks.  As far as here in the US, it may arrive as an LTE variant or a similar device in a different name.  It is die out sometime in late Spring of this year.  We don’t know anything on pricing yet but w/ all it has to offer, I doubt it will be on the more affordable side.

As far as something that is definitely slated to arrive in the US w/ 5G: the Xperia Pro.  This will share just about everything the Xperia 1 II has to offer but will add 5G broadcast capabilities for faster uploads and a HDMI port to be used a display monitor for your camera as well.

Will you be picking one of these up if the price is right?
