With all of the Canon & Sony news, everyone seemed to forget about Nikon and what’s up their sleeve. Last night, they unveiled a little brother to their Z6 line of full-frame mirrorless cameras w/ the Z5. Let’s break down what it’s all about in regards to specs, pricing, & availability.
The Z5 offers a 24MP full-frame mirrorless sensor w/ in-body image stabilization, ISO range of 100-102,400, capable of shooting 4K@30fps however w/ a 1.7x crop, powered by their Expeed 6 processor, a 3.2inch touchscreen, a 3.69 million dot OLED viewfinder, 273 auto-focus points w/ eye tracking, 4.5fps w/ full AF, dual SD card slots, and headphone/mic jack/HDMI ports – all within a soon-to-be-webcam-ready, weather-sealed body.
The kit lens that you see here is something new from Nikon, its a f/4-6.3 24-50mm zoom lens. The Z5 is $600 cheaper than the Z6 as it will cost $1,400 for the body-only and $1,700 w/ the new kit lens. The Z5 will be available soon as it will hit the stores/online retailers in August.
