While we’re less than 24 hours away from the big unveiling, there isn’t much left to share about Google’s Pixel 4a budget Android device. We knew it was coming but it looks like we got confirmation on the specs, pricing, and the other 2 Pixel devices coming in the fall as well. So as you can see above, all of the information in this post comes from Ishan Agarwal over on Twitter w/ the specs. So tomorrow we’re finally gonna get the Pixel 4a and it will arrive in one flavor: standard. No XL version coming tomorrow but more on that in a little bit.
The Pixel 4a is looking like it will have a 5.8inch OLED display w/ 2340 x 1080 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 730 CPU, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a headphone jack, fingerprint sensor on the rear, a f/1.7 12.2MP rear camera sensor w/ OIS, dual pixel phase detection + capable of 4K@30fps video/1080p slow-motion @120fps, an f/2.0 8MP selfie camera, a Titan M security chip, and a 3140 mAh battery. All of this for only $349 and will be available globally in countries like U.S, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austrailia, Japan, & Canada. This pricing is undercutting damn-near everyone from the iPhone SE 2 to the OnePlus Nord. Smart move, Google, smart move. But wait there’s more.
Now those of you looking for the XL version of the 4a, that will arrive in the fall alongside the Pixel 5. It will be called the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 will offer 5G support as well. Both are said to be powered by the Snapdragon 765 5G CPU that’s also inside of the LG Velvet which we are currently in the process of reviewing. The Pixel 4a 5G is said to have a $499 price point while the Pixel 5 will have a $699 price tag on it.
The image above shows that the Pixel 5 would be taller than the 4a but not by much. This is an interesting move as this would make the Pixel 5 their biggest flasghip but not too expensive while offering options like the 4a w/ 5G or the standard 4a to suite your Pixel needs.
Thoughts?
