Yesterday, Apple announced new Macs but not the ARM-based ones they’re promised by the end of the year.  These are their new & updated iMacs for 2020 w/ the 27inch getting all of the big features & the 21.5inch getting mild updates.

The 27inch iMac will retain its amazing 5K display but adds Apple’s True Tone technology to the mix.  You got the faster, 10th-gen Intel chipsets w/ options of a 6-core i5 or 8-core i7.  The GPUs get a boost as well w/ your choice of AMD Radeon Pro 5300 or 5700XT graphics card w/ the latter option touting 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

No more Fusion Drives as Apple has gone all SSD ranging from 256GB all the way up to 8TB of storage.  RAM also gets a higher ceiling now going up to 128GB.  They finally upgraded their terrible webcam from a 720p up to a 1080p one.  There’s also the new T2 security chip for encrypted storage + ‘Hey Siri’ support, studio-quality mics, & a new speaker setup.  The 21.5inch models get SSDs as well.

The new 21.5inch model starts at $1049 while the 27inch model start at $1,800.  The 2020 iMacs are available now to order & will ship later this week.
