Also, unveiled in the Apple’s smartwatch presentation: the Apple Watch SE. This is made to be a replacement for the Series 3 smartwatch offering a budget option from Apple.
The SE utilizes their S5 CPU which is 2x faster than the chipset on the Series 3. It will run watchOS 7 and retain the notable features like fall detection, compass, always-on altimeter, face haring, Family Setup, and sleep tracking – all within a swimproof body. You are missing the always-on display from the Series 5 though.
Instead of the smaller sizes the Series 3 came in, you’ll get the updated 40mm & 42mm sizes. The SE display is also 30% bigger than the Series 3 & will include the newer watch bands as well.
The Apple Watch SE starts at $279 w/ pre-orders today + available this Friday, the 18th.
