So today was Samsung’s Unpacked event for their A-line of smartphones. They unveiled not one, not two, but three new A-line phones w/ the A52, the A52 5G, & the A72. The 3 are more or less the same phone save for a few difference of details between them.
The Galaxy A52 & the A52 5G both offer a 6.5inch Super AMOLED display. The A52 touting a 90Hz refresh rate & the A52 5G has a 120Hz refresh rate. Both are powered by an unknown octa-core CPU, running Android 11 w/ Samsung One UI 3.0, RAM ranging from 4GB to 8GB of RAM, choice of 128GB or 256GB of storage w/ microSD slot, IP67 dust/water-resistant body, and both have a 4500 mAh battery. The rear shooters offers a quad camera setup consisting of f/1.8 64MP main, a f/2.2 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro, & a 5MP depth sensor w/ a f/2.2 32MP selfie camera.
While the A72 offers a slightly larger 6.7inch Super AMOLED display w/ 90Hz refresh rate, the same specs as the A52 line but w/ the rear shooters swap out the depth sensor for a f/2.4 8MP 3x telephoto sensor. Unfortunately, the A72 will only arrive in LTE model w/ no 5G support at launch but a5G version can come at a later time/date.
We didn’t get any official word for US pricing/availability at today’s event. If its anything like last year’s lineup, it might be priced from the $400 to $600 price range. Would this be the new budget smartphone to hold you down in 2021 & beyond?
