Having already dropped their super-fast f/1.2 50mm G Master lens last week, Sony isn’t done. Earlier today, they dropped not one but 3 new FE/full-frame prime + compact G lens – bringing their number of E-Mount lenses to 63 in total. We got an f/2.8 24mm, a f/2.5 40mm, & a f/2.5 50mm lenses for you to choose from. Let’s talk about all they have to offer.
Sony’s new trio of G lenses (not be confused w/ their higher-end G Master glass) are compact primes that offers high-quality output. All 3 have the same small size of 2.68 inches in diameter +1.77 inches long while weighing in at under 6.2oz. The 40mm + 50mm weighs in at 6.1oz and the 24mm weigh in at 5.7oz to be exact.
You got 2 linear motors to help create a fast & quiet AF w/ great tracking, aspherical elements + ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to help stop color fringing while maintaining high resolution w/ a shallow depth of field. You got an adjustable aperture w/ switchable click stops that can be turned off for video recording. As well as a smooth focus ring to help you not miss a photo opp or be out of focus. And all 3 lenses offering a minimum focus distance just about 1ft & under.
