Having already dropped their super-fast f/1.2 50mm G Master lens last week, Sony isn’t done.  Earlier today, they dropped not one but 3 new FE/full-frame prime + compact G lens – bringing their number of E-Mount lenses to 63 in total.  We got an f/2.8 24mm, a f/2.5 40mm, & a f/2.5 50mm lenses for you to choose from.  Let’s talk about all they have to offer.

Sony’s new trio of G lenses (not be confused w/ their higher-end G Master glass) are compact primes that offers high-quality output.  All 3 have the same small size of 2.68 inches in diameter +1.77 inches long while weighing in at under 6.2oz.  The 40mm + 50mm weighs in at 6.1oz and the 24mm weigh in at 5.7oz to be exact.

You got 2 linear motors to help create a fast & quiet AF w/ great tracking, aspherical elements + ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to help stop color fringing while maintaining high resolution w/ a shallow depth of field.  You got an adjustable aperture w/ switchable click stops that can be turned off for video recording.  As well as a smooth focus ring to help you not miss a photo opp or be out of focus.  And all 3 lenses offering a minimum focus distance just about 1ft & under.

All 3 of these FE G lens (f/2.8 24mm, f/2.5 40mm, & f/.25 50mm) will be available in May for $600.  For those of you interested can pre-order yours tomorrow, March 24th.  Will you be adding these to your camera arsenal?
